Excursions

Enjoy an excursion on your vacation and swim with the dolphins. Alright, now’s the time to have a little fun on your vacay with excursions! They can be a great way to see the sights of where you’re vacationing. It gives you a chance to meet new people and try new things that you never thought you’d try before. Have any fears you want to conquer?

Excursions can range from town tours to swimming with the sharks. Just depends on how high your adventurous level is. Here are a few ideas to get excited about:

            • Swimming with the Dolphins
            • Kayaking
            • Snorkeling/Scuba Diving
            • Camelback Riding
            • Whale Watching
            • Deep Sea Fishing
            • Parasailing
            • Zip Lining
            • Walking Tours
            • Gold Mining & Panning
            • Dog Sledding Camp
            • Rainforest Hiking Trails
            • Glacier Helicopter Tours
            • Museum Tours
            • Skiing
            • Jet Skiing
            • Glass Bottom Boat
            • Moonlight Yacht Dining
            • Safari Tours
            • White Water Rafting

The list can go on and on and on. Pretty much most places have their own types of excursions that they offer. Check online or with your concierge desk and they will tell you all the excursions they have available. Often times you can order your excursions online at the same time that you reserve your lodgings. Some excursions may not be available directly through your accommodations but available through another source altogether. But approach these vendors with caution and ask plenty of questions to make sure they are on the up & up. And don’t be afraid to haggle with them. You might win and get it cheaper!

Excursions Cost

More Ziplining than likely a fee will be associated with any excursion that you are interested in. Make sure you understand the pricings and whether or not it’s per person or for a group of two or more. Excursions can also range in their lengths of time. Understanding the length of time an excursion will take can help you decide if it’s something you want to do or not. Times can range from 30 minutes to 4 hours. You definitely want to make sure you bring a snack with you if it’s a long one. Most excursions provide a lunch if it’s quite lengthy but make sure you understand if you have to buy lunches or if it’s included within the excursion deal.

Be Prepared

Depending on the excursion, clothes and shoes can make or break an excursion. If you have on high heels for a rainforest hike or jeans for a swimming with the dolphins excursion you’re in for a rough ride. Read carefully all the details of what is expected in an excursion to avoid being under or overdressed. That also includes taking purses and wallets with you. Try Lost Money to carry the minimal amount of necessities needed. Excursions are a great place to lose your belongs because you will be traveling to and from the destination of your excursion. Shorts or pants with pockets that have zippers are ideal for storing money and your ID. If you want extra security for excursions that involve swimming or getting wet place your items in a Ziploc baggy and then place your things in your pocket. And you wouldn’t be normal if you didn’t want to take pictures of all the the cool stuff you’ll be doing so you may want to take along a disposable camera which reduces the anxiety of losing your $500 Canon camera that your Aunt Agatha bought you for your birthday. There are also waterproof disposable cameras that you can buy. Before going on your excursion, get an understanding of what you can and can not bring. And above all else have a blast!
