Coral Castle Museum

7/22/12

One of those mysteries of the world that may never be figured out comes from Homestead, Fl. If you find yourself in the need for a road trip or in the nearby area, take the time to drop on in and be amazed. This museum is an outdoors sculpture garden given the name Coral Castle Museum. It has been compared to the mysterious architecture of the infamous pyramids or the head-scratching Stonehenge. What you will see in this museum are awesome sculptures ranging from small to large. Amongst these sculptures are carved pieces of furniture and towering artistic pieces that bring a pondering frown to ones face. Why you ask? Because the builder of this outdoor wonderment was a small man of only 5ft weighing nothing but a mere 100 lbs. No one is quite sure of how he managed to Read the rest of this entry »

Oia, Santorini in Greece

7/16/12

Oia (pronounced ee-uh), Santorini is a small island that overlooks the Aegean Sea. It is about a 45 minute plane ride from Athens. Located at the northern tip of Fira which is the capital of Santorini. One can get a magnificent view overlooking the caldera pooled against the island.
This gorgeous part of Greece is well known for it’s beautiful sunsets and narrow cobbled streets. Here you will find serene beauty and beautiful waters that are unimaginable at its high vantage point. It’s quite a beautiful sight to view the meditarranean architecture of white dome-capped houses that have been carved out of the sides of the cliffs. Their vibrantly colored doors provide a wonderful sensory overload for the eyes to behold when taking it all in amongst the northern tip oceanic views. One can also witness black and red pebbles alongside its black sandy beaches winning it the nickname of the “island of black rock” due to past volcanic activity that Santorini has experienced. Helping A Fellow Traveler Along Their Way

5/20/12

The other day I was leaving the grocery store when I came upon two young fellows standing along the side guard rail of the road. As I rode up beside them I could see a sign that one of them had held high. Under the assumption it was a sign labeled with normal homeless needs I glanced at the sign. To my surprise it was a sign labeled “Travel Supplies Needed…” There was a bit more written but I can’t remember what else there was, it didn’t matter because it was the initial statement that stuck with me most. Normally I keep my head straight for peddlers because I have nothing to give. I know that sounds harsh and uncaring, but in today’s age and time with the ease of use of the debit card I rarely carry any bills or change. But just so happened on this day the purse I was carrying, which I rarely carry purses anymore either, contained about 8 bucks inside the inner pocket. When it dawned on me that Read the rest of this entry »

New Year! New Vacations!

1/11/12

New Year, New Plans

Hey guys and happy New Year! Now that we are two weeks into the new year and the newness of the fact that it’s now 2012 has worn off a little, it’s time to start planning your vacations. The other day as I was sitting at work our boss had us pass around our vacation book in order to plan our vacations for the new year. At first I thought what?, this is too soon to know what vacations we want to take. But as I begin to think about it, it’s not so strange to already begin thinking about where I want to go this year. It kind of sets a goal for the year of making sure I do take the time to vacation.

So now it’s your turn. It’s time to open up the calendar on your Dell or your Android and begin laying out where you want to go this year. What destinations do you want to reach that wasn’t on your list last year? Do you see yourself soaking up some rays in some exotic locale? Or are you envisioning hitting the slopes in Colorado and getting lost in a cabin somewhere? Well I say go for it. Get-ta planning folks!

Keep Busy on a Flight

2/11/12

Flying over Phoenix on the way to Mazatlan, MX Over looking night lights heading from Cabo San Lucas.

Depending on how long your flight can be they can definitely be a boring feat while traveling to your destination. But by putting some hit tunes on your Ipod or your music player on your Android before you know it you’ll be singing yourself well on your way to where you’re going. Or perhaps taking along a crossword puzzle, magazine or book to read can also keep you occupied during your traveling. And the kiddos (as well as adults) should take along a handheld video game to help pass the time by. Even taking along a laptop and entertaining yourself while electronics are permitted turned on can get you through a long flight.

My vice for coping with being high beyond the clouds is my Samsung Galaxy Android. It holds all my music to last me the trip and with the new advancements of reading books on Kindle downloadeded on the phone I have enough reading material to occupy me for hours until the plane touches down to my vacation heaven. Just got to remember to keep the darn thing well charged which can sometime be difficult when on a connecting flight if there’s no time to charge between flights. Read the rest of this entry »

Martinique- French Caribbean Island

This place sounds like a great vacationing spot with lots to offer. It is part of France and the Martinique Beach French is the language spoken there as well as Antillean Creole. Many people that take enjoyment of Martinique Island like to visit the north and south parts of the island. Though the more scenic of the two is the north side, the south gets more tourism. The north side offers a plethora of white sandy beaches but it is very mountainous. But the south offers exotic black beaches that are created from its past volcanic activity. It also has botanicals gardens that can be seen throughout the island.  Read the rest of this entry »
