For some, what you will do with your pets is just as stressful as finding where you’ll be staying on your vacation.
If you can’t take your furry friend with you there are options out there just about as cushy as the vacation you have planned for yourself. If you have pets small enough that can be watched by a neighbor or friend, great, but some owners with dogs or cats might find it more difficult to find a pet sitter just as easily. If this is your dilemma there are plenty of reliable boarding facilities for your dog or cat.
Kennelling Your Pet
Some vet hospitals have the capability of kennelling your dog or cat. Make sure you know the hours of operation for the facility and check to see if you can pick up your pet the day you return back
from your trip. Some places may not be open on certain days and you will have to wait an extra day or two before you can get them out which is more moola out of your pocket. Also, check on the accommodations provided. Ask to see where your pet will be boarded while you’re away. If they say you can not, walk out right then and there. It should be no problem to do so. Not only will you see the type of condition your companion will be left in while you’re gone but it will also give you piece of mind knowing where they’ll be spending their days and nights. Often times an animal hospital versus an actual boarding facility will not offer the same accommodations and amenities such as play times or much larger areas for kennelling. Though it may be a cheaper route, it may not be the best solution for your pet’s comfort if they’re in for a week or longer stay.
Best Friends Stick Together
If you’re planning on taking your pet with you on your trip that can be arranged. Consult with the airline that you will be using on the rules and regulations. Depending
on the measurements of your pet they can either fly onto the plane with you or can be placed below as “checked-in luggage.” Fees differ for both and can cost about as much as your plane ticket. But how do you place a price on having your best friend canoodling with you on your vacation? Some airlines may require a reservation before allowing your pet aboard. It is needed because there could be a maximum amount of animals alloted on the plane at a time. Make sure to check with your airline so you won’t have to reschedule any flights because a remake of Wild Kingdom is taking place on the plane. Also, be aware that your pet may be anxious or frightened by noises associated with plane adjustments or take-offs. Just try to be there for your pet and console them as much as possible. Hopefully their anxiety will decrease.
